The Artisan Timeline

Witness the rigorous journey of a single thread from an idea to a royal outfit panel.

I

Khaka Drawing

Our master designer hand-draws the intricate border or neckline patterns on tracing sheet, poking tiny holes along the lines.

II

Neel Printing

The sheet is laid on the fabric, and a solution of chalk powder and kerosene (Neel) is rubbed across to transfer the pattern print.

III

Adda Setting

The printed fabric is stretched extremely tightly onto the heavy rectangular wooden frame (Adda) so it remains completely flat.

IV

Karigari Handwork

Karigars sit around the frame, utilizing aari needles, golden wires (Kasab), beads, and sequins to bring the design to life stitch by stitch.
